四百年間のいのちの履歴書、ふたたび探究で深化いや深淵化・・・。
　言ってみれば「名も無い庶民のサバイバル記録」だと思えるのだけれど、わが家系は幕藩体制下で権力側の「御用」を果たしてきた流れが確認できるようになってきた。そしてそれは、政治情勢の巨大変容という中での航海のように浮沈を経験させられることに繋がっている。
　ときどき思うのだけれど、江戸期社会を研究しているとその藩ごとに庶民の家の有為転変には違いがあって、比較的安定した藩とそうでない藩によって民の生き様に大きな違いがあることを実感する。
　わたしの家系では松永塩業との関係がいよいよ明らかになってきて、その創始期から明治期までの事跡を丹念に追ってきているなか「福山市史」中巻を参照して非常に興味深い歴史事実が浮かび上がってきた。
　それは松永塩業の「生産者組合」と呼ぶべき存在の発見と、それが尾道の商家と取引してきた状況が具体的に顕現してきたのだ。この生産者組合の代表者名として「月本幾右衛門（つきもと いくえもん）」という人物名が連年使われていて、どうもこれが「名目の名前」で仮称、という研究成果が示されていた（福山市史中巻621P）。・・・福山藩ではこうした便宜的仮名使用が常態化しているように思える。
　で、その「月本幾右衛門」名義の手船が1865年に尾道港で差し押さえられ、そこで係争沙汰になるビジネス的トラブルが発生している。この係争の相方当事者がわが家系の商家阿賀屋だったと推認できるのです。
　そしてこの係争は1871(明治4)年になって和解した事実。前後15年間もの間もつれきった係争が継続していた様子がわかってしまったのですね。そして和解に至った年にはなんと福山藩周辺で起きた「武徳一揆（武徳・今津一揆）」が起こっている事実も符合。これは新政府への不満だけでなく藩政時代に「藩と癒着して私腹を肥やした」と見なされた特権的商家（御用商人）への打ち毀しがあった・・・。
　そうなのです、家系の２度目の「打ち毀し」遭遇であります。
　いまのところ歴史事実と公的記録との整合的推論なので、より正確な調査が必要なのですが、家系史でも微妙な「空白」期でもある次第。なかなかな深淵ぶり、ややおののき気味。さて・・・。

【Late Edo/Meiji Periods / Staring Down the Catastrophe of Our Family Line…】

　Four hundred years of life’s chronicle, deepening—or rather, plunging into the abyss—through renewed inquiry…
You might call it the “survival record of nameless commoners,” yet my family lineage has been traced as having served the ruling powers under the feudal system. This connection inevitably led to experiences of rise and fall, like navigating through the turbulent seas of massive political upheavals.
　Sometimes I reflect: studying Edo-period society reveals distinct differences in the fortunes of commoner households across domains. The lifestyles of people varied greatly depending on whether they lived in relatively stable domains or unstable ones.
Within my family lineage, the connection to the Matsunaga Salt Industry has become increasingly clear. While meticulously tracing its activities from its founding period through the Meiji era, consulting the middle volume of the “History of Fukuyama City” brought to light a fascinating historical fact.
　Specifically, it revealed the existence of what should be termed a “producers’ association” within Matsunaga Salt Industry and concretely manifested its trading relationship with merchants in Onomichi. The name “Tsukimoto Ikuemon” appears year after year as the representative of this producers’ association. Research findings indicate this was likely a “nominal name” or a provisional designation (Fukuyama City History, Middle Volume, p. 621). …It seems such convenient use of pseudonyms was commonplace in the Fukuyama domain.
Then, in 1865, a ship registered under the name “Tsukimoto Ikuemon” was seized at Onomichi Port, leading to a business dispute. It can be inferred that the other party involved in this dispute was the merchant house Agaya, my family lineage.
　This dispute was finally settled in 1871 (Meiji 4). It reveals that the protracted conflict had persisted for a full fifteen years. Remarkably, the year of settlement coincides with the “Bukoku Uprising” (Bukoku/Imazu Rebellion) occurring around the Fukuyama domain. This uprising targeted not only dissatisfaction with the new government but also the privileged merchant families (official suppliers) who were seen as having colluded with the domain government to enrich themselves during the feudal era…
Yes, this marks the second instance of our family encountering such a “demolition” (punitive action).
For now, this is a coherent inference based on historical facts and public records, though more precise investigation is needed. It also coincides with a somewhat obscure “blank” period in our family history. Quite the abyss, I must say—I’m feeling a bit uneasy. Well then…
