さて関西に取材に行った折りに訪ねた司馬遼太郎記念館。
片方は司馬遼太郎の息づかいが感じられる書斎空間。
もうひとつは稀有な建築構想人・安藤忠雄さんによる司馬遼太郎の建築的素描。
両方を楽しめた次第で、わたし的には満足度が高かった。
安藤さんの建築は鹿児島でも札幌でも瀬戸内の島々でも見たけれど、
ある一定の予定調和が感じられて楽しい。

今回の探訪ではその施主側のスタンスというか、
人間性を読み解くさまざまな情報を受け取ってきた人生経験を踏まえて
建築人がそれをどのように読み取って形に仕上げるのか、
という取材態度を持つことができたと思います。
自分がよく知っている人間にふさわしい空間を
どんなふうに構想したらいいのか、という見方ですね。
司馬遼太郎さんというのは、その事跡以上に播磨灘物語あとがきなどで、
かれの家系との近縁性、関係性を知っていたりもするので、
生々しさを感じている部分もあります。
縁のある神社境内に司馬さんの文学碑がしずかに建っていたりする。
まぁ、私自身の家系的に関西・中国圏というのがホームでもある。
そういう歴史文化圏の共有感が強くあるのですね。
多くの人が司馬遼太郎という個人とは精神的に結びついているので、
安藤忠雄さんとしても、そういった背景の多くの人間からも
いわば施主的な立場からの視線があり得ると覚悟しながら
建築計画に向かったことだろうと思います。
きわめて作家性の強い建築家、建築作家として、
正面から受け止めて、この空間は出来上がっている。
探訪をし終えて、その余韻はしっかりと持っているし、
その空気感はごく身近に感じられている。
５年近く時間経過しているけれど、写真の中にその場の印象は
刻印され、肉体的感覚として持ち続けてきています。
打ち放しコンクリートの記念館と書斎というコントラスト、
いい家だったなとおだやかな印象が残っております。

また再訪できることはきっとあるだろうと思いつつ、
いまは、司馬さん以降の日本の作家たちの作品に期待しながら、
あれこれと読書のウィングを広げさせていただいています。
再訪したときに、また違う印象を持つことができるかも知れません。

Well, my own family is in the Kansai / China area, which is also my home.
There is a strong sense of sharing in that historical and cultural area.

Tadao Ando and many people with such a background

After exploring, I have a solid lingering sound,
The feeling of air is very familiar.
Almost five years have passed, but the impression of the place in the photo is

The contrast between the exposed concrete memorial hall and the study,
I have a gentle impression that it was a good house.
