昨日、日中の疲れからのウトウトから夕方６時前から寝落ちしていて、ふと気付いたら深夜11時前。なんとなく寝付かれずに起き出してMACで作業をしていたら、ケータイから緊急警報のけたたましい音響。
　カミさんのケータイも鳴り響いて、不安におびえていたら、かなり長い時間の「横揺れ」がコンクリートブロック造本体の建物に襲いかかってきた。体感的には１分程度ほど続いたろうか。
　どの程度の震度の揺れなのか、事前にはわからないのでその揺れ具合を実感しながら、2011年の東日本大震災時の経験と対比させながら、じっと堪えていた。あのときは気配的に札幌からはるか「南の方」からのインパクトを感じていた。今回は印象的には大きな横揺れだったけれど、室内でなにかの異変があったりはしていない。東日本大震災の時はこの家ではなく、当時新築してその後手放した木造の事務所建築で迎えていた。あの時とは環境が違っていたので、比較にはならない。
　むしろ平成30年北海道胆振東部地震の時の体験に近い感覚だった。2018年９月６日03時07分、北海道の胆振地方中東部を震源とする地震で、真夜中で寝ぼけたアタマで緊急警報に起こされて、室内で揺れを感じさせられていた。あのときは札幌のわが家周辺は震度6程度だったけれど「あ、これで・・・」と一瞬は思ったほどだった。幸い、わが家では大きな被害はなかったけれど、市内各所で被害が出ていた。朝になって周辺・琴似駅への筋道、旧国道５号線周辺などの被害状況を見回っていた記憶がある。
　今回は揺れが収まってから、それぞれ分かれて暮らしている子どもたちの住まいがどうだったか、LINEで確認していたが、わが家では幸いにして被害はなかった。しかし非常緊急状況で、お互いの無事を確認したいと思わされるほどではあった。まずは無事でなによりというところ。
　しかし、これから夜が明けて、街中での状況には注意したい。また、東北地域太平洋側にも被害状況が考えられるので、多くの知人のことが気遣われる。人生時間、天災は忘れた頃にやってくる。
　あ、昨日断続的に降り続いたので、まずは雪かき作業からであります。う〜む・・・。

【Drowsy Late Night: “Earthquake” Emergency Alert Hits My Head／Major Shaking!】
The activities of Earth’s living entities continue eternally in a different dimension from our sense of time. This time too, the emergency alert activated “in advance.” Humanity’s crawling forward…

　Yesterday, I dozed off from daytime fatigue and fell asleep before 6 PM. When I suddenly woke up, it was just before 11 PM. Unable to fall back asleep, I got up and started working on my Mac when my cell phone blared with an emergency alert.
My wife’s phone also started ringing. As we lay there anxious and frightened, a long, horizontal swaying motion hit the concrete block building. It felt like it lasted about a minute.
Since you never know beforehand how strong the shaking will be, I endured it silently, feeling the intensity and comparing it to my experience during the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. Back then, I distinctly felt the impact coming from far “south” of Sapporo. This time, it felt like a big horizontal sway, but nothing unusual happened inside the house. During the Great East Japan Earthquake, I wasn’t in this house; I was in a newly built wooden office building that I later sold. The environment was different then, so it’s not really comparable.
It felt closer to my experience during the 2018 Hokkaido Eastern Iburi Earthquake. At 3:07 AM on September 6, 2018, an earthquake with its epicenter in central-eastern Hokkaido’s Iburi region struck. Woken by the emergency alert in the dead of night, my sleep-addled mind registered the shaking indoors. Back then, the area around my home in Sapporo registered around seismic intensity 6, but for a moment I thought, “Ah, this is it…” Fortunately, my home suffered no major damage, but damage occurred throughout the city. I remember going out in the morning to survey the damage around my neighborhood, the road to Kotoni Station, and the old National Route 5 area.
　This time, after the shaking stopped, I checked via LINE to see how my children were doing in their separate homes. Fortunately, our house was fine. Still, it was an emergency situation that made me want to confirm everyone’s safety. First and foremost, it’s a relief that everyone is safe.
However, as dawn breaks, I want to pay attention to the situation in the city. Also, damage is likely along the Pacific coast of the Tohoku region, so I’m worried about many acquaintances. Life’s timing—natural disasters strike when you least expect them.
Ah, since it snowed intermittently yesterday, snow shoveling is first on the list. Hmm…
