以下は以前取材した「日本民家園（川崎市）」展示記録からの要旨抜粋。
＜近世民家にかかる工事は広く「普請」〜ふしん〜と呼ばれる。
家の新築を始め、増改築・屋根葺き替えも普請という範疇。
普請の語源は仏教語で「功徳をあまねく請い願うこと。
禅の修行者が総出で働くこと」を意味した。
そこでは専門の職人の仕事と村共同体社会の人々の
相互扶助による仕事とが組み合わされていた。
屋根吹き替えでは村人たちは材料や品物を持ち寄り、その普請作業に参加した。
普請は一軒の家を村共同体でつくり、祝う共同作業であり「付き合い」でもあった。＞
＜民家の「普請帳」は江戸時代から残っている。そこには家普請にかかった
実際的な経費ばかりでなく、援助や協力を受けた人々の名前、提供された労力や
物品などが詳しく記されている。
普請の援助協力は近世の生活共同体ではひとつの「付き合い」であったが、
反面それは労働交換の性格を持っていた。家主は後の「お返し」に備えて
事細かく、援助協力の内容を記録した。＞

今日わたしたちは、資本主義社会で暮らしている。
生活共同体に近似してはいるが全然違う会社企業という「稼ぎ」組織に所属し
そしてその存在基盤とはほぼ無縁な「住宅地」に暮らしている。
とも働き夫婦ですら、別々の「稼ぎ」組織に所属して生きている。
その距離間を「通勤」というカタチで移動しているという暮らし方。
近世までの「民家」とはまったく性格の違うウツワにわたしたちは住んでいる。
いわば共同体とは「無縁」な社会を生きていると言えるのでしょう。
で、わたしたちはいま住宅を得るとき、無縁に住宅「会社」を選択する。
建築工事はその会社企業組織のシステムに沿って運営されていく。
依頼者は、ほぼそれまでの生き方からは無縁の地域の土地を取得して
ある機縁でたまたま知った会社に巨費の資金を用意して依頼する。
たぶん「普請」で掛かった費用とは隔絶する巨費になっていると推定できる。
資本主義的「商品」として交易されているのが現代住宅なのでしょう。

在宅ワーク、テレワークというまた新たな「環境変化」が不可避に始まって
さてこういった現代の住宅建築総体に変化が生まれてくるのかどうか、
きわめて興味深い社会段階をわれわれは生きているように思います。
かつての「職住一体」という意味合いとはまた違う住環境。
現代的な会社組織への通勤という要素が減衰して
一方で住宅にまた違う側面、機能がプラスされていくのでしょう。
どういった「変化のタネ」が見えてくるかと予断しながら、
注意深く考えていきたいと思いますね。

[Community “Public-Architecture” and modern housing / Japanese good house ⑮]

The following is an excerpt from the exhibition record of “Japanese Folk House Garden (Kawasaki City)” that I interviewed before.

<The “general contract book” of a private house has remained since the Edo period. It took a house contract there

Aid cooperation of the general contract was one “association” in the modern life community,
On the other hand, it had the character of labor exchange. The landlord prepares for a later “return”

Today we live in a capitalist society.
Belonging to a “earning” organization called a company that is similar to a living community but completely different
And he lives in a “residential area” that has almost nothing to do with its existence base.
Even working couples live in separate “earnings” organizations.
A way of life in which people move between the distances in the form of “commuting.”
We live in Utsuwa, which has a completely different personality from the “private houses” of the early modern period.
It can be said that we are living in a society that is “unrelated” to the community.
So, when we get a house now, we choose a house “company” unrelated.
The construction work will be operated according to the system of the company’s corporate organization.
The client acquires land in an area that is almost unrelated to the way he lived until then.
I ask a company that I happened to know about a certain opportunity to prepare a huge amount of money.
It can be presumed that it is a huge cost that is isolated from the cost of “general contract”.
It is probably modern housing that is traded as a capitalist “commodity”.

New “environmental changes” such as home work and telework have inevitably started.
Now, whether or not there will be a change in the overall modern residential architecture.
I think we are living in a very interesting social stage.
A living environment that is different from the former meaning of “integrated work and housing.”
The element of commuting to a modern corporate organization has diminished
On the other hand, different aspects and functions will be added to the housing.
While predicting what kind of “seed of change” will come into view
I would like to think carefully.
