司馬遼太郎記念館、その３です。
わたしはこの記念館を見に行って安藤忠雄の設計になる記念館よりも
ひたすらこちらの司馬遼太郎自邸とおぼしき書斎にたむろしていた。
同じ関西人として安藤は司馬さんとの個人的交友もあったのでしょうが、
しかしまったく安藤作品的に作られる建築が、
司馬遼太郎のイメージになり得るのかどうかはあやしい。

平面図が記念館から公開されているけれど、
自邸の方は「書斎」のコーナーだけが記述されている。
２枚目の写真のように自邸は当然、ここ書斎だけではなく
生活ゾーンも当然しつらえられているのでしょう。
しかしそれはプライバシーに属するので、ここ書斎だけが
「記念館」の一部を構成するかのように、照明が灯されて、
カーテンなどの遮蔽もなく、ガラス窓越しに公開されているのです。
わかりやすいのは安楽椅子が庭の植栽と一対で対置されていること。
司馬さんが生きてきた時代、それはアナログの書籍の時代。
紙の本が山のように資料として所蔵されてそれと向き合いながら、
著作に集中してきた様子がわかる。
紙の本はなによりもそれに向かう体動作で一定の制約を人間に与える。
採光の条件とか、集中力を高める姿勢というものが確実にある。
いま時代はスマホ読書、電子形態にも拡散しつつあって、
その体動作では、アナログの書籍とは微妙に様相が変わってきている。
紙の本の場合にはこの司馬さんの書斎のように安楽椅子が
句読点になっていただろうことがわかる。
また、椅子のデザインを考える人にとって読書という状況は
非常に大きなウエートを占めてもいたに違いない。
本という一定の重量範囲の、しかも人間に知的興奮を惹起させるものとの
相互作用環境を深く考えることはキモであるに違いない。
もちろん人間個別でその体動作にはバラツキもある。
固い机の上に見開きページで展開した状態で閲覧した方がいい人もいるし、
うたた寝にすぐに落ちていけるような姿勢でこそ集中できるという人もいる。
まことに千差万別だろうことは間違いがないけれど、
司馬遼太郎はこのように読書集中していました、というメッセージは伝わる。

面白いなぁと思ったのは、安楽椅子にさらにタオルケットか毛布のような
布製品がカバーリングされていて、その安楽椅子の頂部で
バンド止めされていた様子。けっこうユーモラス。
まるで安楽椅子がねじり鉢巻きしているかのように見えてしまった。
読書していると基本的には体動作は停止気味になるけれど、
しかし長時間になってくると姿勢を変える、寝返りのようなことはする。
そのときにカバーリングがズレて、対策として頂部を固定化させたのでしょうか。
イキモノとしての司馬さん個人の特性が表現されている。
採光面では天井に天窓とおぼしき空間が見て取れた。
また照明の位置は可動させられたような仕掛けが見て取れる。
この安楽椅子も転々とこの部屋の中で位置が変わっていたに違いない。
それと安楽椅子周辺には本の収納などは見られない。
この場所では特定テーマに集中するか、一冊の本読書に集中したか。
まぁやはり庭のごくふつうの緑環境との邂逅が句読点だったのでしょう。
いちばん「個人的」だった時間を過ごしていたように想像できる。

[Ryotaro Shiba’s “Personal Time” / Good Japanese House ㉟-3]
Shiba Ryotaro Memorial Hall, Part 3.

But it belongs to privacy, so only here in the study
The lights are on, as if they form part of the “Memorial Hall”
It is open to the public through a glass window without any shielding such as curtains.
What is easy to understand is that the comfort chairs are paired with the garden planting.
The era when Mr. Shiba lived was the era of analog books.
While facing the paper books that are held as materials like a mountain,
You can see how he has concentrated on his writing.
Paper books, above all, impose certain restrictions on humans in their body movements toward them.
There are definitely conditions for daylighting and attitudes to improve concentration.
Nowadays, it is spreading to smartphone reading and electronic form.
Its body movements are slightly different from those of analog books.
In the case of a paper book, an armchair like this Shiba’s study
You can see that it would have been a punctuation mark.
Also, for those who think about chair design, the situation of reading is
It must have occupied a very large weight.
A book, which has a certain weight range and causes human intellectual excitement.
It must be a key to ponder the interaction environment.
Of course, there are variations in the body movements of individual humans.
Some people prefer to browse on a hard desk with a double-page spread.
Some people say that they can concentrate only in a posture that allows them to fall into a nap immediately.
There is no doubt that it will be different, but
The message that Ryotaro Shiba was concentrating on reading in this way is transmitted.

What I found interesting was that it was like an armchair and a towel or blanket.
The fabric is covered and at the top of the comfort chair
It looks like the band was stopped. Quite humorous.
It looked as if the comfort chair was twisted and head-wound.
Basically, when I’m reading, my body movements tend to stop,
However, when it takes a long time, he changes his posture and does something like turning over.
Did the cover ring shift at that time and fix the top as a countermeasure?
It expresses the individual characteristics of Mr. Shiba as a living thing.
On the daylighting surface, I could see a skylight and a space that seemed to be on the ceiling.
It’s not certain, and maybe the ceiling lights were designed that way.
In addition, the position of the lighting can be seen as a mechanism that seems to be moved.
This comfort chair must have changed its position in this room.
Also, there is no storage of books around the comfort chair.
Did you focus on a specific theme or a book reading at this place?
Well, I think the punctuation mark was the encounter with the ordinary green environment in the garden.
I can imagine spending the most “personal” time.
