\u3000The chronological exploration of my family lineage I’ve been undertaking since late last year.
\nThis chronological excavation involves genealogical identification of individuals and journeys to experience the actual lands and spaces where they lived. Drawing on my experience creating residential magazines, spatial research particularly stimulates my imagination. From the actual lands my ancestors inhabited, the faint lingering traces of civil engineering remnants, and the living streets of Onomichi, the same DNA-based re-experience is spun into being.
\n\u3000As I repeat this process, my writing style increasingly reflects the approach of Osamu Tezuka’s life’s work, Phoenix. I also find similarities with the biographical style of the Mito Domain’s Dai Nihon Shi.
\nWhile chronological timelines are generally easier to understand, they inevitably become mere lists of historical facts, burying personal thoughts and the raw emotions of human beings.
\n\u3000Of course, while covering the known chronology and facts, one naturally wants to glimpse the protagonist’s inner world.
\nAs a biographical narrative, the Phoenix\u2014symbol of eternal, timeless life\u2014proves an intuitive guide.
\n\u3000Tezuka-san, brilliant work. Truly the precision of Japanese manga culture prioritizing clarity above all.
\nWhen digging into family history and tracing ancestors’ deeds, the inevitable consequence is hearing the echoes of their voices resound: \u201cWhat about you?\u201d
\nEspecially as a modern person journeying while conversing with AI, fragments of my own life inevitably resurface and play out simultaneously. Conversing with AI is like practicing tennis against a wall\u2014analyzing my own strokes becomes a fascinating \u201cside path\u201d in itself (laugh).
\nI’ve come to realize this Phoenix-style exploration, especially within the realm of shared DNA across time, is an essential nutrient\u2014an extract. Knowing one’s ancestors is knowing oneself. And vice versa, I suppose.
