\u3000While I’ve begun distancing myself from the front lines of corporate activities, I remain a working professional and (individual) entrepreneur. Naturally, I continue to closely monitor these shifts.
\nRegarding the profound societal changes driven by generative AI, I actively participate by incorporating it into my daily personal activities.
\n\u3000I recently attended a web lecture on generative AI and new ventures hosted by a startup affiliated with Hokkaido University’s Faculty of Engineering, a group I’ve collaborated with on AI usage for five to six years. I make a point of gathering information from such reliable sources whenever possible. While its adoption is accelerating, it hasn’t yet reached a universally objective \u201cpublic knowledge\u201d level. I believe we’re in a phase where diverse information\u2014both valuable and worthless\u2014intersects and mixes. Friends of my generation have asked me, \u201cHey, what’s the deal with this? There’s even paid explanatory content out there\u2014do you think it’s worthwhile?\u201d
\nPersonally, I use it as a powerful tool for deep diving into specific thematic areas and understand its usefulness. However, I feel somewhat distanced from the hype suggesting it \u201ceasily translates directly into business.\u201d
\nIn that sense, this collaborative partner is trustworthy both in terms of connections and track record.
\n\u3000The slide above is a snapshot from that presentation.
\nIt clearly conveyed the \u201cmarket conditions.\u201d It likely represents the general consensus on understanding each company’s current situation. However, the presentation emphasized that while generative AI currently relies on \u201cpublicly available tools,\u201d the future will see companies moving toward solutions that address \u201cinformation leakage risks.\u201d It’s obvious that generative AI is useful for improving productivity within companies, but it’s also clear that this inevitably raises information management concerns. That’s only natural.
\n\u3000Generative AI as a dedicated tool for each company seems to be a promising business domain.
\n…Based on this overview of society, what should individual companies do?
\nMy fundamental understanding is that it ultimately depends on how it’s used. Utilizing this tool merely as a \u201cconvenience\u201d for internal documents will likely become worthless sooner or later. Instead, the normal trajectory is for each company and individual to pursue \u201cspecialized\u201d development within their respective business domains. I don’t foresee market potential for \u201cgeneralized\u201d use going forward. Rather, what’s likely desired is development centered on \u201cdeepening\u201d its application within specialized domains.<\/p>\n
