\nWhat kind of \u201celegance\u201d is possible in a cold and snowy environment that severely inhibits appreciation, as opposed to a garden culture in a climatic environment that allows \u201cappreciation\u201d? …<\/p>\n

\u3000Architectural culture evolves and develops in accordance with the climatic conditions of the background of the local and national society, and in pursuit of the comfort of the unique \u201ccomfort\u201d of that climate. The tea ceremony room space in the Bokkeitei, the villa of the Himeji Museum of Literature, as seen in the photo, can be regarded as a reception space divided into several functions, and was left to us today as the \u201cbest space\u201d as described above by the successful residents of this area in the Meiji period. It is located in the \u201cinner sanctum\u201d of the building, where the contemporary Tadao Ando concrete floor space is being developed. I imagine that Tadao Ando probably understood and accepted this architecture as spatiality.
\n\u3000The tea ceremony culture is a unique culture of the Japanese people that has been sublimated through layers of history, and is recognized as a spiritual culture best suited to the Japanese climate. It was considered \u201cthe best\u201d to express respect for the depth of the culture, and to enjoy such \u201celegance\u201d with a view of the garden was considered to be a proper cultivation of character for the people of this archipelago.
\n\u3000Naturally, the people of Hokkaido are also from the south of Honshu, and their roots are in the warm climate of Japan. I myself feel a special connection to Himeji in my family history. As a person who has such a connection to Himeji, I can easily say that I think this kind of spatiality is wonderful. However, I do not think that this is the only choice.
\n\u3000As a person who has been in contact with housing culture in the form of interviews based in Hokkaido, I believe that this is the true state of mind. The truth is, \u201cThese things are wonderful, but if you ask me if they are the foundation of our sense of values in life, I am a little skeptical.
\n\u3000I agree that the view of the garden shown in the architecture and the seasonal changes of the trees with unique branches, which is described as one of the extremes of this particular approach, is a way to enjoy the area in its own way. It is natural to incorporate the appreciation of the changing seasons into one’s living space as a good expression of living in a certain area. However, if it is said that this lifestyle can be shared by all Japanese people, I would argue that this is not the case in some areas.
\n\u3000The standard level of \u201ckacho-fu-getsu\u201d is very different.
\n\u3000I have reported on a successful \u201ccultural figure\u201d in Hokkaido who commissioned a respected Tokyo-based designer to build a house and create a beautiful garden similar to the one in the finished photograph, only to have the delicacy of the garden landscape completely obliterated and reduced to ashes when heavy winter snowfall caused a massive snowfall from the roof. The house was completely destroyed by the snowfall.
