The third installment of a series of articles I have been writing for Shinken Housing Web, a \u201cspecialized journalism\u201d for construction firms and other industries nationwide, has been published. The title of the article is \u201cTracing the Roots of Evolution: The Road to \u2018Northern Style Housing Zero\u2019.
\n\u3000In the previous installments, I have delved into the business development of SUDO HOME, a regional builder that has been leading the development of a ski resort in Niseko, Hokkaido, which has been attracting attention from around the world, as a \u201ccurrent point in time\u201d in terms of housing marketing in the Hokkaido housing industry.
\n\u3000In this third installment, we will introduce the history of housing in Hokkaido.
\n\u3000The starting point is the Meiji Restoration and its relation to the northern people’s sense of \u201cnational defense\u201d as an ethnic group.
\n\u3000The last of the wars of the Meiji Restoration was the \u201cHakodate War,\u201d and I have focused on Kiyotaka Kuroda as the shogun of the Hakodate War. From there, the history of innovation in traditional Japanese housing performance and its path to the latest regional housing standard, \u201cNorthern Style Housing ZERO\u201d.
