\u3000Exploring my family history makes my perception of time and space truly fascinating and transcendent.
\nAnd when I seize the opportunity to add \u201con-site visual landscapes\u201d to my experience, a unique sensation arises. The photo above is from my recent visit, just about a month ago, to a specific region where my direct ancestors\u2014from the 8th to the 3rd generation back (my grandfather)\u2014repeatedly married women born there.
\n\u3000It happened to be sunset, but it truly gave me a profoundly \u201cmaternal\u201d impression. I marked the direction I was facing while watching the sunset on Google Maps with a red arrow. The foreground is now a golf course, with vast green fields stretching out. Beyond that, the sunset dipped into the horizon like a view of the \u201cWestern Pure Land,\u201d and inexplicably, the rhythmic cadence of the Heart Sutra began forming in my mind (laugh).
\n\u3000The location is about 4-5 km north of Fukuyama City Hall in Hiroshima Prefecture. It’s an area where the Ashida River curves around Mount Ishizuchi in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, flowing in a looping manner.<\/p>\n

\u3000In my family lineage research, it is highly significant that the women who came from the homes marked with black circles \u25cf on this map became my direct maternal ancestors. While it’s not quite an academic \u201cfact\u201d due to the nature of genealogical research, the reliability is sufficiently high.
\n\u3000Personally, I’m not a logical thinker; I’m the type who feels an affinity for \u201cexpression\u201d through things like painting and literature. So, I find myself utterly captivated by this sense of landscape and its \u201clegacy.\u201d
\nAs for the genealogical research itself, we are steadily advancing our understanding of the periods both before and after this era. While the modern and contemporary periods since the Meiji era are self-evident, we are also reaching a stage where insights into the prehistoric part\u2014from Sekigahara and earlier\u2014are becoming visible. Fundamentally supported by the exploration efforts of my blood relatives, I am using my own methods, including AI applications, to solidify peripheral groundwork. This allows me to gain a macro-level understanding of the \u201csocial climate\u201d and \u201ceconomic circumstances\u201d my ancestors likely experienced in their daily lives.
\n\u3000Perhaps it’s an analysis of how common people and Japanese lived through the Warring States period, the Edo period, and into modern times.
\nEvery day brings new discoveries, and I continue to feel a sense of \u201creincarnation.\u201d<\/p>\n
