\u3000In Sapporo, if you register as a LINE friend, posts keep pouring in and notifications reach your smartphone.
\nAs you know, there have been bear sightings nationwide lately, but in Sapporo and Hokkaido, reports of brown bear sightings are coming in nonstop. As previously reported, sightings have been frequent around nearby Mount Sankaku, just about 1 km from my home, and the other day, two of them were finally culled. However, due to this summer’s extreme weather patterns, fruit yields in the wild seem to be very low. It appears the brown bears are being pushed down into populated areas.
\nThe fact that these \u201cculls\u201d are happening in urban areas makes it clear that the human world’s \u201clegal\u201d society is becoming unsuitable.
\nTo carry out a cull, you must obtain \u201cpermission\u201d from the administrative side each time. The target brown bear keeps moving during the time lag until that permission is granted. Significant road closures, requests for voluntary restraint, and administrative approvals naturally take time. The recent successful culling feels like a miracle under such conditions.
\nHowever, the brown bear crisis demands we remain vigilant.
\nEstablishing crisis-responsive behavior patterns is now pressing for Sapporo citizens in general.
\n\u3000In my case, as I enter my senior years, my health goal has been \u201cover 8,000 steps daily.\u201d Previously, I approached the green hills southwest of Maruyama Park, but to avoid danger while still enjoying nature, I’ve turned my attention to the green spaces within Hokkaido University’s campus. Even on Google Maps, you can see it’s a rare zone preserved since the pioneering era, located close to the urbanized center of Sapporo.
\n\u3000Consequently, it’s rapidly becoming a popular walking route for couples like us.
\nAs reported yesterday, I’m actively pursuing \u201cAI\u201d exploration, but light exercise like walking remains optimal for stress relief during computer work. It also enhances my concentration for research and exploration tasks after returning home.
