\nThis system is summarized as follows: Targeted at those aged 70 and over in Sapporo City, it aims to support outdoor activities and enrich senior citizens’ lives by allowing them to use public transportation worth 10,000 to 70,000 yen with a self-burden of 1,000 to 17,000 yen. The program began in 1975 targeting the Sapporo City Tram and Sapporo City Bus, and was expanded to include the subway the following year, with bus routes gradually being added as well.
\nIt has been around for a long time, but I had no idea about it until now (tears). The program is currently undergoing revisions, and for my wife’s generation, eligibility has been postponed by about five years. For my generation, the benefits of the program are also gradually diminishing. My wife noticed this and made the arrangements. We submitted the application ourselves, paid the fee in cash at the post office counter, and had it activated.
