version\u2b07<\/p>\n<p>A walk in the snow, healed by Ezo Squirrels<br \/>\nThis is a corner of the green space where \u201cAmerican engineers hired by the Japanese government\u201d in the Meiji pioneering period were protected in a nature park. We will not identify the location out of consideration for their privacy.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000Sapporo is apparently becoming \u201croot snow\u201d. The early morning walk with my wife is now in regular operation. Walking is the best way to maintain our health, and we both get up every morning in good spirits.<br \/>\n\u3000We change the course of our walks from place to place depending on our mood, but the course from Hokkaido Shrine to the foot of Maruyama Park is the one where we enjoy encountering small animals. The rich natural forest along the water system flowing from the surrounding mountains was preserved as a \u201cnature park\u201d in the early Meiji era (1868-1912) by American \u201chired foreigners\u201d who fell in love with the natural landscape. Right next to this spot is also a nesting spot for crows, but the slight difference in vegetation seems to have established an \u201cinviolable zone\u201d for both parties.<br \/>\n\u3000Every morning, when I pass through the noisy crows&#8217; zone, I am allowed to encounter these lovely squirrels in their daily lives. This stump spot in particular seems to be the \u201chome\u201d of these individuals, and every morning at a certain time, we encounter them eating nuts like this.<br \/>\n\u3000They are here again, aren&#8217;t they? I&#8217;ll never give them to you. They are eating with an expression of \u201cThis is mine,\u201d but they don&#8217;t seem to be alarmed at all. They are squirrels, so they are sometimes agile, but when you understand their pace, you can tell that they are eating \u201ccalmly\u201d in their own way.<br \/>\n\u3000The way they look at me in the photo, I can still sense some awareness of \u201clooking at the camera\u201d (laugh).
